Celebrating our 2005 Premiership and the Sydney Swans Foundation’s 20th anniversary

This year marks 20 years since our historic 2005 Premiership and on Saturday night, the stars from our 2005 premiership team will perform a lap of honour, and supporters will get a glimpse of the Premiership Cup.

Members and fans can also visit the Sydney Swans museum to re-live the famous victory and other historic Sydney Swans moments.

The 2005 Premiership win didn't just mark a historic moment for Sydney, it sparked the beginning of a lifelong ambition. That same year, the Sydney Swans Foundation was born.

The Foundation was established to support the development of young football talent through the creation of the QBE Sydney Swans Academy.

Now, 20 years on, the Foundation continues to shape the next generation of red and white – proudly supporting the future stars of our game.

Three young Swans sign on

On Monday, it was announced that Caiden Cleary, Will Edwards and Riak Andrews have extended their contracts with the club until 2027.

QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduates Cleary and Edwards have both signed new two-year deals while Andrew, already contracted to the end of the 2026 season, has extended his stay in the Harbour City by a further 12 months.

The trio are the latest young Swans to recommit to the red and white, joining Sam Wicks, Ned Bowman and Jesse Dattoli in putting pen to paper in recent weeks.

Roberts: "We're going to have to be on as a team"

Ahead of Sydney's Round 12 clash with Adelaide on Saturday, Swans defender Matt Roberts spoke to the media.

The 21-year-old answered questions about the side's loss to Melbourne, captain Callum Mills' suspension, returning players and the upcoming game against the Crows.

Speaking about the Crows, Roberts said that his side would need be at their best to get the win.

"They're having a terrific year, they've got a pretty strong front six and I think they're the number one scoring team in the comp at the moment," he said.

"So we're going to have to be on as a team for our defence, if we can do that, we'll go a long way to win the game."

Injury Update

Sam Wicks was removed from play in the 3rd quarter of the Sydney's match against Melbourne due to hamstring tightness. An MRI revealed a low-grade strain, meaning he is unavailable for this weekend’s game.

In good news, Harry Cunningham and Robbie Fox are both tests to return this week. Both players completed a rehab skills and reconditioning session on Saturday and will complete full training this week.
