Emerging young forward Tom Hanily has signed a two-year contract extension, tying him to the red and white until at least the end of 2027.

Hanily was recruited by Sydney with pick 14 in the 2024 Mid-Season Rookie Draft after impressing in the VFL for the Gippsland Power.

The 20-year-old made his AFL debut in Opening Round earlier this season and has gone on to feature in seven games, kicking six goals.

Sydney Swans Executive General Manager Football – AFL, Leon Cameron, said Hanily has made a promising start to his AFL career.

“We’ve been really pleased with Tom’s progress in the year he has been at the club,” Cameron said.

“His debut in Opening Round was reward for the hard work he put in over his first full pre-season, and he has continued to impress us with his attitude and eagerness to learn.

“We look forward to seeing Tom’s development over the next two years.”

Hanily said he is thrilled to re-sign with Sydney.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at the club over the past year, so I’m super grateful for this opportunity,” Hanily said.

“The club has been welcoming and I’ve made some good mates here, plus I’m really enjoying my footy, so I’m excited to be staying in red and white.”
